Someone commented on my note with the funny typo (which is a photo from a newspaper, taken by my friend, and you can even see his shadow falling across the page) of being AI because it didn't have any credits or a source specified! 😭 I was actually quite hurt, especially as I don't crank out that fake, "deep", crap, or generate crying AI grannies who have been forgotten on their 90th birthday. It's just a funny picture!
I mean... I understand the wariness and cynicism, but it seems rather misdirected when there's plenty of obvious AI dross to choose from! Unless they were making a point about AI image generation struggling with words and numbers? I dunno.
Ugh, I'm sorry that happened to you! If being an "AI bot" means posting a photo without a credit or source, then AI bots have been in existence for decades, apparently.
This is exactly the reason why calling people out directly for AI use (unless they come right out and say it) is a risky business, because even when you're 99.9% certain of it, there's still that 0.01% chance that you're wrong. This is also the reason why I think GenAI platforms and social media platforms need to do a better job of identifying artificially generated content, so as to take out the guesswork on the user end.
Yes, absolutely, AI-generated content needs to be flagged as such!
I went for my morning scroll today and saw so many Notes that read like AI. But then, if people see loads of it (and think it's human), it'll presumably get into the water course, so to speak, and infect the way humans write. Ghastly!
Honestly, Ive been touching grass more or just close Internet for whole day because I don't know what to trust anymore - is it human or is it ai made? Just dived myself into zines because of that reason and just publish my stories and art through piece of paper..
Likewise. There are some sites I've sworn off completely (e.g. Reddit) because they're just full of AI-generated content now. For the moment, there are few online communities to turn to as an alternative. I do think, however, we will eventually see more "AI doomers" returning to independently-hosted websites or heavily moderated forums going forward. Web 1.0 Part 2, essentially.
